Protection & privacy
Why a smaller initial information footprint can make a security conversation more considered.

Information has a purpose
Every detail shared should have a reason to be there. A first conversation is about understanding the category of need, not collecting a full personal history or a list of everyone involved.
Consider other people
Details about family members, colleagues or other parties may be particularly sensitive. Avoid including them in an initial online brief. A direct conversation can establish what information is appropriate and how it should be shared.
Choose the channel
Do not assume that a public website is a suitable channel for sensitive records. Ask the company how to continue privately. Keep a copy of your own agreed scope and understand who is responsible for the next step.
